DRIFT Privacy Policy
Who we are
DRIFT is a free arcade game published by a solo developer. This policy covers the DRIFT iOS app and the DRIFT website at drift-game-production.up.railway.app. Both share the same backend, so the same data practices apply.
What we collect, and why
- Anonymous device ID. A random UUID generated on your device the first time you launch DRIFT. It is stored on-device and sent with each request so your scores and sessions can be associated with the same player across runs. It is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other identity.
- Display name. The leaderboard name you choose. It is shown publicly on the leaderboard and filtered server-side to remove profanity. You can change it at any time from the app.
- Gameplay stats. For each completed run: your score, duration, nitros used, pickups, kills, best combo, and a platform tag (web or iOS). Used to power the leaderboard, your personal history, and player profile pages.
- App usage analytics. Anonymous session records (start time, last-seen time, app version, platform) and named UI events (for example, play_start and game_over) with small numeric metadata. Used to understand which features are used and to diagnose bugs.
What we don't collect
DRIFT does not collect any of the following:
- Your real name, email address, phone number, or password.
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any cross-app tracking signals.
- Any third-party analytics or social SDKs that share your data.
Advertising (iOS app)
The iOS app shows occasional rewarded video ads (for example, to continue a run) through Google AdMob. We do not show the iOS tracking prompt and do not access your advertising identifier (IDFA), so ads are non-personalized. To serve and rate-limit ads, AdMob may process limited technical data such as your IP address, device type, and ad interactions. AdMob is operated by Google; see Google's Privacy Policy. The web version shows no ads.
Where the data goes
Your gameplay and leaderboard data is stored in a single SQLite database hosted on Railway and operated by the developer. It is transmitted over HTTPS. It is not sold, not shared with third parties, and not used for advertising. (Ad serving on iOS is handled separately by Google AdMob — see Advertising above.)
Data retention and deletion
Data is retained while the leaderboard runs. You can request deletion of everything associated with your device by emailing the contact address below; the developer can wipe your records by your anonymous device ID.
Children
DRIFT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through DRIFT, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. The anonymous device ID is stored on your
device in browser localStorage (or its iOS WebView equivalent).
The backend database is hosted on Railway with standard provider-level
protections.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as DRIFT evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent change.
